{June 21, 2011}   Training with Tommy

I had the unique experience of attending a SHRED bootcamp with Tommy Europe.  For those of you that don’t know Tommy Europe, he is the celebrity trainer for the show “The Last 10 Pounds Bootcamp”.  The bootcamp was on Father’s Day so as a fun Father/Daughter activity both my dad and I participated in this program.  The first 20 minute was a nice easy progression through exercises, none that were really new to me and with just a mat and a 4×4 foot spot to stand in I was not sure how effective the class was going to be. Then BANG all the advanced and crazy exercises came out.  As the crowd, full of 20 and 30 year old women gawked at Tommy’s bulging biceps, I was sweating my way through the “Tabata” training and the Tricep body weighted activities.  Overall I came away with some interesting exercises and a good sweat.  Now two days later I can still feel my inner thighs and I am reminded that it is important to push yourself out of your own routine and change things up now and then.  Thanks Tommy!

{June 2, 2011}   Moving Forward

It has been an amazing year of personal reflection and I feel ready to move on.  As many of you know a year ago I was diagnosed with PCOS – an infertility issue and it hit me harder then I expected.  I tried to smile through it, pray for answers and yet a year later I have still not dealt with the disappointment.  I feel like I have been spinning my wheels waiting for something to happen and it doing so I was not taking control of my life or caring much for my body.  In fact I was so angry with my situation that I spent much time neglecting my healthy eating and fitness.  Don’t get me wrong I did still eat my veggies and do at least 5 workouts a week but I was very unmotivated and found many bad habits sneaking in.  These poor choices are not without consequences and over the year my weight has snuck up on me.  I am excited to announce that I am ready to move forward.  As I mention to many of my clients you have to be ready for significant weight loss – in fact weight loss starts in your mind.  Over the last few month I have resumed my hormone/weight loss studies and found some promising information, so exciting in fact that I began my first weight loss study with a small group of ladies who have found themselves in a similar situation.  I am now running a new group, collecting information and watching the results of this program.  I am putting myself in the study this coming week and looking forward to the changes over the next few month.  I will be sure to post my findings each week.
